Afemai is an ethnic group inhabiting the northern part of Edo State, South-South Nigeria. Afemai people occupy six local government areas of Edo State. The local government areas are Akoko-Edo, Etsako East, Etsako Central Etsako West, Owan East, and Owan West.
Kukuruku Hill is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Afemai, Edo State. This hill, also known as Kukuruku Mountain, is located in Auchi, a town that sits at the heart of Afemai. The top of this hill offers an incredible view of the surrounding landscape that stretches for miles.
The history behind Kukuruku Hill makes it even more fascinating for tourists to visit. According to local folklore, Kukuruku Hill was once home to a powerful deity who protected the people from external attacks and disasters. It’s said that sacrifices were regularly made on this hill to appease the deity and maintain peace in the land.
Today, visitors can hike up Kukuruku Hill and explore its natural beauty while learning about its rich history.
